Music is a wonderful thing…
and normally I’d say you can never EVER have enough of it.
However there are times when you just wish that bands/labels/HMV would just very slightly stagger album releases so you don’t have four of your favourite bands release records on the same day.
Its the age old dilemma of firstly, which album to listen to and secondly the abject terror that the first album will be so amazingly good that it’ll make the other three sound like a bag of spanners hitting an old lady after being dropped out of a tenth story window. In which case you’ve wasted £30 or a good 15 minutes on Limewire (I’m legally obliged to say that downloading is illegal, and a little bit Jewish) when you could be checking out YouPorn.
Now without wanting to imply that I’m a go getting, constantly in demand A list socialite, I usually only have time to listen to two albums a day. One on the way into work and one on the way back. Now obviously with most albums you do need to listen to them a fair few times to digest them so its usually a case of only listening to them twice a day and therefore it taking ages to get to know them.
Multiply this by a million if you REALLY get into the album and by the time you know it the other records are gathering dust on your shelf and the only time you actually get to hear them is when you’re desperately trying to memorise the songs because you’re on your way to Reading and you don’t want to look like a bellend when you’re trying to sing along and don’t know any of the words.
Its a dilemma thats affected me ever since going into full time employment and as yet I haven’t really figured out a solution bar leaving work (which would leave me penniless and unable to buy the albums in the first place, let alone pay for my broadband so I can download them) or playing the albums during the work day.
We did try it once before but it is a bit of a non starter. You imagine trying to force a customer to take insurance with HIM playing in the background. They’d have hung themselves before the credit check had even passed.

On a brighter note, and thanks to Dan for the heads up, here is the awesome looking trailer for Terminator 4.
